About Lexington Home Brands
With a legacy of leadership spanning a century, Lexington Home Brands is a leading global marketer and manufacturer of branded home furnishings. Hallmarks of the company are design leadership, a wide-ranging product assortment, quality craftsmanship, exceptional value and broad style appeal.
Lexington Home Brands pioneered the concept of lifestyle retailing by partnering with top national brands such as Tommy Bahama Home and Trump Home. These partnerships, as well as our own respected Lexington brand, allow us to introduce personality to each collection of home furnishings, and to help you create the lifestyle in your home that captures your own personality.
Lexington Home Brands has a long history of providing fashion-forward, high-quality home furnishings at an exceptional value. The business began in 1901 as Dixie Furniture Company, with a commitment to leadership in the furniture industry, a commitment that continues to this day. In 1940, inspired by Henry Ford's automobile assembly plant in Detroit, the company revolutionized the furniture industry with the introduction of automatic conveyors and mass production techniques to move furniture from one stage of assembly to the next.
During the 1950s and '60s, four companies were established, with individual specialties: moderately priced bedroom furnishings were produced under the Dixie name; Link-Taylor manufactured fine solid wood bedroom and dining furnishings; Young Hinkle specialized in boys' bedroom furniture; and Henry Link became known for its girls' bedroom furniture and, beginning in the 1970s, was one of the first companies to popularize casual wicker furnishings.
In 1987, the Michigan-based Masco Corporation bought and merged the four Lexington companies into Lexington Furniture Industries. Lexington joined a prestigious group of Masco-owned home furnishings companies.
In 1996, Lexington underwent a leveraged buyout, creating the independent LifeStyle Furnishings International. Then, in April 2002, a Lexington Home Brands management group joined with equity partner Sun Capital to purchase the full-line furniture company from LifeStyle Furnishings, returning it once again to an independently-owned company. Lexington Home Brands has grown from a small manufacturing operation a century ago to a leading global marketer and manufacturer of branded case goods and upholstery, with the industry’s largest brand portfolio. Well-known consumer brands include Lexington, Tommy Bahama Home and Trump Home.
