About Chromecraft
The best furniture in the world isn’t the best unless it provides value. That’s why, at Chromcraft, we use the finest materials, and we exercise more control, and demand more of our products than anyone in the industry. Quality control makes our furniture the best value in the industry. We form our own tubing out of cold roll steel, often using techniques we developed ourselves. We even manufacture our own Ultrafoam®, pre-shaped to assure a precise, confortable fit. Other components are engineered and manufactured to our own exacting specifications to give long lasting comfort, ease of use and strength. You’ll find more value features in Chromcraft furniture than in any other brand. It’s no wonder many of Chromcraft’s innovative, award winning designs have not only established us as a leader, but also set major trends in the industry.
Of course, design and construction are only part of the equation. We are every bit as meticulous about how our furniture looks, too. So when you see a Chromcraft piece you see the designer’s latest fabric and colors. You see variety in look and appeal. You see a company who understands that furniture serves many functions, including favorably accenting the home.
Chromcraft Corporation had its beginning at St. Louis, Missouri, in 1908. It was originally known as American Fixture and Showcase Company. The typical tradition of ingenuity and ambition carried this newly founded company through various stages of expansion from a humble beginning to a well operating corporation. Immediately following WWII, the company led the field in peacetime reconversion and found in so doing that the facilities were inadequate to carry out the many projected peacetime plans for production. Additional space and production facilities were needed. After careful consideration a plant site was purchased and a modern furniture plant was constructed. This plant was named Chromcraft and was operated as a division of the parent company until 1955. At that time, Fixture Division and the Furniture Division separated under independent management groups. The continued growth of the Chromcraft Corporation created a need for further expansion, and in 1961, a decision was made to build a 250,000 square foot furniture factory in Senatobia, Mississippi, which opened in 1962. In 1965, Chromcraft entered into a period of growth. Mohasco Corporation bought the Senatobia company and added it to its family of progressive home furnishings manufacturers. Since that time Chromcraft has expanded its manufacturing warehouse, research and development facilities to a total of 650,000 square feet. In 1992, Chromcraft was spun off from Mohasco along with Peters-Revington, an occasional furniture manufacturing company in Indiana. These two companies were combined under the name Chromcraft Revington, and Chromcraft once again became a publicly held company with its initial offering in May of 1992. At the Senatobia plant, Chromcraft produces the following products: metal dining room chairs, metal dining room tables with both glass and laminated tops, upholstered metal and wood office chairs, bar stools, and multiple seating units.
